The core of the City Library “Brothers Miladinovci” is consisted of representative collection of old and rare books, as well as significant collection of paintings, watercolor and drawings of Macedonian contemporary fine art, unique in its value.

Through this collection audiences have a rare opportunity to meet with several valuable masterpieces of Macedonian Moderna, including works by three of the Macedonian doajens sedmorka Dimitar Avramovski Pandilov, Vangel Kodzoman and Tomo Vladimirski . Dimitar Pandilov, the first Macedonian impressionists in whose exhibition in 1926, chronologically, begins modern art in Macedonia.

Vangel Kodzoman inspired by native Struga with singing lyricism and Cezanne-like analyticalism in his paintings.

Tomo Vladimirski, landscape painter, painting the natural beauty of Macedonia in the beginning with elements of realism, later passing the phase of impressionism and retaining the lyrical expressionism.

Pleiades of distinguished artists who left their mark on the Macedonian Moderna add to this collection owned by the City Library.  Tomo Shijak, holder of the avant-garde ideas and components in our contemporary art.  Gligor Chemerski who first entered gesture, clear move as a new virtue in the Macedonian art. Vasko Tashkovski,is an important representative of the Macedonian surrealism.   Vladimir Georgievski draws with color.  Trajche Janchevski, painting the human figure or the figure of an animal, defies space with elements of “magical realism”.  Kole Manev, in an original way became one of the central figures in out art, painting portraits and human body in various alternatives.  Dancho Ordev with rich colorant and stylized Cezanne-like landscape art.  Goce Bozhurski and Dimitar Stojchevski.

The wealth of the City Library, shown through the collection of paintings, is the most valuable part of the testimony of the history of Macedonian culture, artistic endeavors and achievements of the doyens of the modern Macedonian Moderna, their followers ad new generations of painters.
